ALL THE RAGE, Directed by Seth Barrish, Begins Off-Broadway Engagement Today

piece by piece productions is a not-for-profit organization that was started in 1999 by Wendy vanden Heuvel. Its mission is to produce film and theater that is socially, politically, and spiritually relevant to our times. piece by piece is also very interested in supporting the development of theatre artists and their original work through workshops, readings, and the productions of new plays. Productions have included: Medea directed by Deborah Warner with Fiona Shaw on Broadway (associate producer), The Tricky Part by Martin Moran, Ode to the Man Who Kneels by Richard Maxwell, in association with the NY City Players, and The Walworth Farce by Enda Walsh, Mabou Mines DollHouse, and Emma Rice's Brief Encounter, all in association with St. Ann's Warehouse, My Name is Rachel Corrie in association with The Royal Court Theatre, Too Much Memory in association with Rising Phoenix Repertory, Slipping by Daniel Talbott in association with Rising Phoenix Repertory and Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, Elective Affinities by David Adjmi in association with Rising Phoenix Rep and Soho Rep, 3C also by David Adjmi in association with Rising Phoenix Rep and Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, underneathmybed by Florencia Lozano, Yosemite by Daniel Talbott in association with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, and Brian Mertes and Melissa Kievman's Lake Lucille Chekhov Project (Ivanov 2010, Seagull 2011). In December of 2013, in association with St. Ann's Warehouse, LaMaMa and Dovetail Productions, piece by piece productions will be producing Lee Breuer's La Divina Caricatura. Films supported: Fierce Grace: Ram Dass by Mickey Lemle, and The Rest I Make Up: Documenting Irene by Michelle Memran (a documentary about the life and work of the playwright Irene Fornes). Wendy vanden Heuvel was co-artistic director with RoseMary Quinn of The Other Theater (1994-1999); credits include: Three by Beckett '94 and '96 directed by Joseph Chaikin, Mud by Irene Fornes, Women. War. Comedy. by Thomas Brasch, Springtime by Irene Fornes, and Counting the Ways by Edward Albee.

The recipient of the 2007 Caffe Cino Fellowship and the New York Innovative Theatre Award, Rising Phoenix Repertory was founded in 1999 by Artistic Director Daniel Talbott, and produces both in the Indie Theatre and Off-Broadway in traditional spaces and site-specifically around New York City. Recent productions include the acclaimed, sold-out Off-Broadway runs of 3C, (co-produced with Rattlestick and piece by piece productions), Elective Affinities (co-produced site-specifically with piece by piece and Soho Rep), Slipping (produced with piece by piece and Rattlestick) and Too Much Memory (also with piece by piece) which transferred to the New York Theatre Workshop's Fourth Street Theatre after winning the FringeNYC award for Outstanding Play in 2008. RPR recently finished its year-and-a-half-long event called Cino Nights, inspired by Joe Cino and his Caffe Cino-one of the original birthplaces of Off-Off-Broadway theatre-for which the company commissioned nineteen playwrights to write new, full-length plays to be fully produced site-specifically in the intimate back room of East Village restaurant Jimmy's No. 43 on a shoestring budget. The first volume of plays from the series, Cino Nights: Plays from Rising Phoenix Rep, was published by The New York Theatre Experience and available online at Indie Theater Now. Other recent productions include Ceremony, Afterclap, Birthday, and Don't Pet the Zookeeper (Seventh Street Small Stage); 365 Days/365 Plays (Jimmy's No. 43 and The Public Theater); What Happened When (HERE Arts Center); Fall Forward (part of the Sitelines/River to River festival produced by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council); The Telling Trilogy (including The Ride, 2006 NYIT Award Nominee - Outstanding Original Short Script/Crystal Skillman), Rules of the Universe (Winner, 2007 NYIT Awards for Outstanding Original Short Script/Daniel Reitz and Director/Daniel Talbott), and Three Sisters (Seventh Street Small Stage); Gift by Mark Schultz and Ponies by Mike Batistick (FringeNYC). Rising Phoenix Rep serves as a home base for a company of theatre professionals that encourages an open exchange of work and ideas within the greater theatre community. Founded in 1986, The Barrow Group Theatre Company, provides inspiration and resources to the entire arts community of NYC. The TBG Arts Center and the Barrow Group Acting School, serve as an artistic home for some of New York's finest actors, directors, playwrights, filmmakers, designers, and visual artists. Play Development is an important aspect of The Barrow Group's programming. TBG regularly gives new plays a forum for works-in-progress or workshop productions. In addition to developing All The Rage, The Barrow Group also developed Martin Moran's award winning off-Broadway piece, The Tricky Part. Other recently developed projects include the recent Off-Broadway hit and Drama Desk Award Nominee Sleepwalk With Me, starring Mike Birbiglia and developed and directed by Seth Barrish, later adapted into a feature film co-directed by Mike Birbiglia and Seth Barrish, winning the Best of NEXT Audience Award at The Sundance Film Festival; the Off-Broadway production of My Girlfriend's Boyfriend, which won the 2011 Lucille Lortel Winner for Best Solo Show; A Steady Rain by written by Keith Huff had it's first NYC workshop production at TBG, eventually landing on Broadway with Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman; Jon Maran's The Temperamentals, which began in the TBG reading series and was produced on The TBG Main Stage before transferring to New World Stages, with Man Underdog and Daryl Roth Productions.

The scenic design for All The Rage is by Mark Wendland; costume design is by Clint Ramos; lighting design is by Russell Champa; sound design is by Leon Rothenberg.

All the Rage plays Monday, Wednesday - Saturday at 7pm; Sunday at 3pm and 7pm, through Sunday, February 24 at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater, 416 West 42 Street, between Ninth and Tenth Avenues. There are no performances on Thursday, January 24 and Thursday, January 31; there will be added performances on Tuesday, January 22 and Tuesday, January 29, both at 7pm. Tickets are $55 and may be purchased by visiting www.ticketcentral.com, or by phoning 212-279-4200, or at the Ticket Central box office, 416 West 42 Street (Monday through Sunday, 12pm - 8pm). Same-day, $10 student rush tickets are available at the box office; $15 advance student rush tickets may be purchased by phone, online, or at the box office. Tickets go on sale Monday, December 10. The running time of All The Rage is 75 minutes.
