Abraham, Finneran & Baker Join MTC's 'Mauritius'

Manhattan Theatre Club has announced full casting for the upcoming Broadway production of Theresa Rebeck's Mauritius.

The production will star Academy Award-winner F. Murray Abraham (Amadeus film, Triumph of Love, The Merchant of Venice and The Jew of Malta at Theatre for a New Audience) as Sterling, Tony Award-nominee Dylan Baker (La Bęte, Eastern Standard, film: Spider Man 3) as Phillip, Emmy Award winner Bobby Cannavale (Hurlyburly, F*cking A, "Will & Grace") as Dennis, Tony Award-winner Katie Finneran (Pig Farm, Noises Off, Cabaret) as Mary, and Tony Award-nominee Alison Pill (Blackbird, The Lieutenant of Inishmore, film: Pieces of April) as Jackie. Tony Award-winner Doug Hughes (Doubt, Inherit The Wind) will direct.

Mauritius will be the first production of MTC's 2007-2008 season. The production will begin previews at the Biltmore Theatre (261 West 47th Street) on Thursday, September 13 and will open on Thursday, October 4.

The play is a co-production with the Huntington Theatre Company (Nicholas Martin, Artistic Director; Michael Maso, Managing Director) which this spring received the Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Production for the world premiere production of the play.

"Jackie (Pill) and Mary (Finneran) are half-sisters whose mother's death leaves them in possession of a rare stamp collection. But which sister actually owns the stamps? Which of three men (Abraham, Baker, and Cannavale) can be trusted with their sale? Tightly woven and ever-surprising, this sinister comedy marks Theresa Rebeck's Broadway debut," state press notes.  "Mauritius is a gripping new play from the enterprising author of such acclaimed hits as The Scene, Bad Dates and Omnium Gatherum, for which Rebeck and her co-author were finalists for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama."

The creative team will include: John Lee Beatty (Scenic Design), Catherine Zuber (Costume Design), Paul Gallo (Lighting Design), and David Van Tieghem (Original Music and Sound Design).

Special funding for this production was provided by The Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation.

Additional single ticket information and additional listings information for Mauritius will be announced in the coming weeks.
