Alan Kitty To Star In MARK TWAIN'S LAST STAND, Previews 5/6

FIGURASI PRODUCTIONS, in association with the AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION and ROOTS AND WINGS INTERNATIONAL is pleased to present Mark Twain'S LAST STAND. In this unique take on Twain, the state of the Economy has induced the Great American Humorist to travel through time and space to offer us a way out of the Recession. And part of his plan is to announce his run for the Presidency in 2012. Previews begin Thursday, May 6th at 8 pm with an opening scheduled for Friday, May 7th at 8 pm. Performances continue Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 3 pm through May 30th. Tickets are $28.00, $18.00 for students and seniors and can be purchased online at www.smarttix.com or by calling (212) 868-4444. The KRAINE THEATRE is located at 85 East 4th Street.

Writer/performer ALAN KITTY's portrait of Twain comes from a knowledge and understanding of Twain's thinking gleaned from his many books, essays, speeches, interviews, newspaper articles and letters written between 1866 and 1909. The white suit and cigar are present; but this is no retooling of the Twain stereotype. Mark Twain'S LAST STAND is nothing less than a twenty-first century Twain's-eye view of the world suited to audiences of all ages. For more information visit www.marktwainslaststand.com.

ALAN KITTY began impersonating Mark Twain thirty years ago. His work has been called "Genius!" by the Mark Twain Society; and he has earned a place among the foremost Mark Twain impersonators in the world today. He has portrayed Twain at several ages, first as the young Hartford author and father in ALIVE AND WELL (1979). He also appeared as the ghost of Twain in the short (Gregorio/Baldwin) film THE SPIRIT OF GIVING (1983). In addition to Twain, he toured with various companies in comedic and dramatic character roles including Applegate in DAMN YANKEES, Bullmoose in L'IL ABNER; Alan Baker in Simon's COME BLOW YOUR HORN; a disarming Detective Scott in DEAD WRONG, Bob, Mamet's correctly paranoid producer in SPEED THE PLOW, a quietly disintegrating Tobias in Albee! 's A DELICATE BALANCE. Last season, he portrayed a tragically inflexible Walter Gold in Tolin's TWILIGHT OF THE GOLDS. In addition to writing his Twain monologs, Kitty wrote the book for the musical BING in 1987, LAP DANCE in 2002, the dark comedy ELECTIVE BEHAVIORS in 2004, and the one-act LANDSCAPE in 2005. In 1988, he co-produced Star Crossed Lovers, by Richard Haas, and in 1990, he wrote and produced the pilot for REEL EXPOSURE. For more information, visit www.marktwainslaststand.com.

Profits from the show will go to THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION and to ROOTS AND WINGS INTERNATIONAL, an organization that provides educational assistance to children and young adults.
