BUBBA, a new solo play by Alabama native Michael Thomas Walker, will be presented at the United Solo Festival at Theatre Row Studios (410 West 42nd St, NYC) on October 25, 2012, at 7:30pm.

Inspired by true events, BUBBA is the story of Michael Thomas Walker's searching to find out who his father was and how he died. The play opens in the Deep South and through the use of slides, the audience is taken on a journey into the good-ole-boy days of Huntsville, Alabama. The play then episodically moves from one year to another as the audience learns about Michael’s father, Joe D. Walker Jr. A survivor of polio at age 2, the play explores Joe's incarceration for embezzling $181,000 from the probate judge, his need to be well-liked, and his discovery that the polio has returned. The story is told through multiple characters: everything from a one-eyed womanizing party animal to Aunt B, the cancer-ridden, chain-smoking, keeper of the secrets.

The play is written and performed by Michael Thomas Walker (Boardwalk Empire, Hairspray National Tour and Walnut Street (Edna), Seussical The Musical National Tour (Horton)) and directed by Melissa Firlit (FringeNYC, Midtown InterNational Theatre Festival, FringeEdinburgh, DreamUP Festival).
