Photo Flash: Peters & Stritch in NIGHT MUSIC - First Look! 2010/07/27 Posted: 7/30/2010 Stephen Davis - It's one of the best, if not the best revivals I have every seen. I just recently returned from seeing this production, and it is, without a doubt, far stronger (in my honest opinion) than it was with Catherine Zeta Jones and the fabulous Angela Lansbury. The addition of Bernadette Peters to the role of Desiree was perfect, and who better to play a sarcastic, rich grandmotherly figure... than Elaine Stritch? They are perfectly suited for their roles, and they give this play a vivace and robust life, with far more feeling that I could have ever expected. The Mile High City awaits you!!!!!!!!!! :~) Top Rank 'Lieutenant' 2010/07/13 Posted: 7/30/2010 LA actor - You might want to travel to Ireland for a bit. The accents were passable for an American audience, but only a couple of the actors would pass for being maybe actually Irish. And as much as I enjoyed the show, the direction was what pulled it off. Most of the actors were not even listening to each other and a couple of the actors created characters that they are not comfortable in (mainly Pine, Perry and the kid.) The action is nonstop so most of the audience does not have time to notice, but any trained actor would be disappointed by what might have been. The second act was much better, seeing as how the actors had so much to do that they did not have time to worry about their accents and character choices, they had much more fun with it and were much more believable. It is definitely worth seeing, but I would not go so crazy as to say the cast is first-rate.
