DIRTY HIPPIE JAM BAND PROJECT Feat. Ann Harada Performs at Jerry Orbach Theater/Snapple Theater Center, 1/28

Bick Goss and Frank Evans, Producing Artistic Directors, continue their 2010 season of Theatrical Thursdays at the Jerry Orbach Theater in the Snapple Theater Center, 210 West 50th Street.

On Thursday, Jan 28, 2010, 6:30 PM, Musical Mondays revisits The Dirty Hippie Jam Band Project, the journey of a group of modern day hippies as they follow their favorite band across the country. Music is by Daniel Israel, Lyrics by Phoebe Kreutz and Book by Adam Mathias and Phoebe Kruetz.

The new musical in development at the BMI-Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop was recently chosen for a BMI Master Class with the lyricist-composer team of Richard Maltby and David Shire (Closer than Ever, Baby). Maltby and Shire's new musical Taking Flight premieres at Princeton's McCarter Theatre this spring.

Composer Daniel Israel has created a modern theatrical sound using rock as a spice rather than a main course. Israel served as Music Assistant to Michael John LaChiusa for See What I Wanna See (Public Theater) and Bernarda Alba (Lincoln Center Theatre). He is a graduate of University of Rochester where his musical Killing Time was produced. Phoebe Kruetz is a singer/songwriter whose songs have won her kudos as a leader of the "anti-folk" movement. She has written for Disney's "Johnny and the Sprites", Les Freres Corbusier's Dance Dance Revolution and TADA's Everything About a Family (Almost). Their song from Dirty Hippie, "My Van", was recorded by 2009 Tony® winner Greg Jbara for the Ghostlight CD "No More Revivals, Volume I" set for a March 2010 release. Co-bookwriter Adam Mathias is a Jerry Bock and Richard Rodgers award winner for both book and lyrics to See Rock City at Barrington Stage. Will Swenson, Tony® nominated for Hair, sings his song, "Rock City," written with composer Brad Alexander, also on the "No More Revivals" CD. Musical Mondays produced the first two public performances of See Rock City.

Ann Harada, originated the role of Christmas Eve in Avenue Q Off-Broadway, then on Broadway and the West End. Other Broadway credits include M Butterfly, Suessical, Les Misérables and 9 to 5. Her films include "Feel," "Happiness," "Hudson River Blues. Recent television appearances include "Lipstick Jungle" (as Victory Ford's mother), "The Electric Company," "Cashmere Mafia," and "Johnny & The Sprites."

Other cast members include Thomas Michael Allen (Tony and Tina's Wedding -original cast, co-creator and television special, I Love You, You're Perfect...Original Off-Broadway cast) ; Mick Bonde,(Show Choir, Kraine Theatre, soloist, Boston Pops); Suzanna Neeley Bridges (Les Misérables, National Company); Aaron Lavigne, (RENT, National Company); Michael "Tuba" McKinsey (Oliver! ,National Co) and Sandie Rosa (Wanda's World).

Director Alan Muraoka's NYC credits include Falsettoland for the National Asian American Theatre Company at The Vineyard Theatre featuring Ms. Harada and four "Leading Men" benefit concerts for BCEFA. He is a member of the Lincoln Center Director's Lab. Kary Haddad, U of Rochester and Eastman graduate is Musical Director.

Café Putannesca, a visit to a ribald Berlin by Barrymore Winning Composer-Lyricist Michael Ogborn and Terrence J. Nolen plus Now and Then, by Matt Landers and E. Miranda Moriera where a doo-wop band reunion leads to surprising consequences.
