Frigid New York Presents LATE NIGHTS WITH THE BOYS: Confessions Of A Leather Bar Chanteuse

FRIGID NEW YORK is pleased to present THE LOPSIDED COMPANY reading of LATE NIGHTS WITH THE BOYS: confessions of a leather bar chanteuse by Alex Bond, directed by Steven Yuhasz.

With delightful and poignant tales of a Southern Songstress and her gay family, Alex Bond and David Carson read selections from Ms. Bond?s novel and transport you to Dallas 1977, a magical time before HIV/AIDS, but not before ignorance and prejudice. A favorite at the 2008 San Francisco Fringe and the 2009 Fresh Fruit Festival.

A reclusive former Southern debutante/cabaret performer in her sixties, Anna Zander hires Craig Bauer to help her write about the best years of her life. She recounts the tales of singing in the gay leather bars of Dallas (when she looked like a drag queen and sang coloratura!). As she reveals memories, lessons, and losses... the collaboration on the book grows, and so does the friendship between Anna and Craig.

Alex Bond (Reader/Author) is an actress, writer and comedienne. Most recently she appeared in the 2008 and 2009 Off-Broadway productions of Flamingo Court as Clara, Marie, and Chi Chi. Regional theatre works include: DFW Fringe Festival at the Hub Theatre, Provincetown Theatre, New Harmony Theatre, Depot Theatre, Buffalo Studio Arena, Virginia Stage Company, Theatre Virginia, South Jersey Regional Theatre, Dallas Theatre Center, Theatre Three. Numerous national commercials. TV credits include: SNL, All My Children. Ms. Bond's plays re-BELLE-ious, Lopsided, and Morning, Noon, and Night in Central Park have been produced in Massachusetts, New York, and Texas. Ms. Bond just completed a novel Late Nights With The Boys: confessions of a leather bar chanteuse. She currently does readings from the book with David Carson; their work has received the ?Producer?s Pick Award? from the 2007 Dallas/Ft. Worth Fringe Festival and the ?Best Literary Staging? from the 2008 San Francisco Fringe Festival. In 2009 The Fresh Fruit Festival of NYC gave Alex and David the opportunity to read for one evening.

Steven Yuhasz (Director) credits include: Flamingo Court (with Jamie Farr and Anita Gillette), Off Broadway, New World Stages; Zorba (with Jeff McCarthy, Beth Fowler & Emily Skinner), York Theatre; The King & I (with Lorenzo Lamas, Rachel deBenedet & Paulo Montalban), Ogunquit Playhouse; NYMF Awards Gala 07? & 08?; Tusk (Best of NYMF 2004); Forever Plaid (Canada & US); Lover, Liar, Lady: The Woman Of Kander & Ebb (Conceived), New Provincetown Players (Artistic Consultant). Associate Director, All About Us, Westport Country Playhouse (with Eartha Kitt, Cady Huffman & Shuler Hensley), and Cinderella, Papermill Playhouse & Ogunquit Playhouse (with Leslie Uggums). Three seasons of A Christmas Carol (with Jim Dale, F. Murphy Abraham & Tim Curry) at MSG assisting Susan Stroman. Producer: Off Broadway?s Streakin & Pterodactyl Island; Producer for The Actors? Fund of America Broadway Concerts and World Aids Day, 2004 Concert of Pippin. One of the Founding Producers for The New York Musical Theatre Festival. As an actor, Steven appeared on Broadway in the revivals of Peter Pan (with Sandy Duncan) and Zorba (with Anthony Quinn).

DAVID L. CARSON (Reader) has been a ?native New Yorker' for 35 years. As a member of Metropolitan Playhouse he has acted in or directed over 25 productions and workshops over the last 16 years. He has acted and/or directed for Reverie Productions, 78th St. Theatre Lab, Bombshell, and many other New York theatre groups. In the NYC Int'l Fringe Festival he performed Michael Bettencourt's mono-drama Mine Eyes (2003) and appeared in Danny Ashkenasi's opera Beyond (2005).
