BWW TV Exclusive: Preparing for CYRANO DE BERGERAC with Douglas Hodge - Creating the Nose & First Look!

Previews began on September 14 for the RTC presentation of Tony Award winner Douglas Hodge as "Cyrano" in a new Broadway production of Cyrano de Bergerac. Clemence Poesy will make her Broadway debut as "Roxane" and Broadway veteran Patrick Page will play "Comte De Guiche." The show will open officially on October 11, 2012 at the American Airlines Theatre and run through November 25, 2012.
BroadwayWorld UK was invited to Hodge's home for an exclusive shoot at which Hodge and designer Barrie Gower fitted his iconic Cyrano nose for the very first time. Now that previews have begun, we're excited to premiere the video below. (more...)

Yesterday, at the top of the museum's Grand Staircase leading to the Impressionist Galleries, a full-sized replica of Georges Seurat's A Sunday on La Grande Jatte—1884 was installed but devoid of most of the foreground characters, leaving visitors puzzled by the strange new version. In anticipation of Chicago Shakespeare Theater's upcoming production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's musical Sunday in the Park with George, characters from this famous painting came to life for a surprising musical performance. He originated the role in the Off-Broadway production at New World Stages in 2008. He has also appeared on Broadway in The Wedding Singer, Off-Broadway in Jacques Brel..., and the national tour of RENT. He is starring in the Broadway-bound national tour of Frank Wildhorn's Jekyll & Hyde in the dual title role of Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde with recording artist Deborah Cox (Broadway's Aida) as Lucy. The West Coast Premiere of THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, officially opened September 12 at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. Broadway World TV's Los Angeles Correspondent and Co-Producer Michael Sterling and Co-Producer Jerry Evans of JLE Media, Inc. were on hand for the red carpet festivities which included such celebrities as Jason Alexander, Rosanna Arquette, Simon Baker, Eric Balfour, Justin Bartha, Beth Behrs, Juie Bowen, Cher, Don Cheadle, Viola Davis, Heather Graham, Laura Dern, Jonathan Groff, Daryl Hannah, Kathy Griffin, Marica Gay Harden, John Hawkes, Lisa Kudrow, Diane Ladd, Tobey Maquire, Bill Maher, Garry Marshall, Julia Ormand, Dermot Mulroney, Carl Reiner, Parker Posey, Jane Seymour, and Alicia Silverstone. Priscilla Presley Set to Debut in SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS at the New Wimbledon

The Broadway at Birdland concert series debuted a new concept called "Portrait of an Artist," featuring actor/director/painter Steve Bakunas. The multi-talented artist conducted an intimate interview with actress Linda Lavin, while painting her portrait on the historic Birdland stage. BroadwayWorld was on hand to film the event, which will air on the site at a later date.
