Broadway Comedy Club Hosts Young Talent at GODSPELL Cabaret Tonight, 7/14

While the show's Broadway run ended on June 24, 2012, six of the kids from the cast of Godspell 2032 along with three other Broadway players will take part in A Time To Shine's kidz Godspell Cabaret on the main stage of The Broadway Comedy Club 318 West 53rd St. NYC at 3 p.m..

Happy Birthday Arthur Laurents! Laurents' first play, Home of the Brave, opened on Broadway in 1945, followed by many others. He wrote his first musical, West Side Story, in 1957, followed by Gypsy and others. His first screenplay was The Snake Pit in 1948, followed by others including Rope, Anastasia, The Way We Were and The Turning Point. His own play, Invitation to a March in 1960, was the first of several he directed. I Can Get It for You Wholesale in 1961 was the first musical he directed, followed by others including La Cage aux Folles and Gypsy with Angela Lansbury, then Tyne Daly and most recently, Patti LuPone. He pased away in May 2011. (more...)

Photo Flash: First Look at Opening Night of Music Circus' THE LITTLE MERMAID

Disney's The Little Mermaid, the hit Broadway musical based on the popular animated film, opened July 10 at Wells Fargo Pavilion for a two-week run through July 22. This Disney family favorite, part of the 2012 Music Circus season, features the popular songs "Part of Your World," "Under the Sea," and "Kiss the Girl." Tickets start at $30 for all performances, with specially-priced children's tickets available in any seating section.

3-D Theatricals Opens AVENUE Q Tonight, July 14

3-D Theatricals presents the third show of its 2012 season with the Three-time Tony Award-winning musical winner, AVENUE Q, music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, book by Jeff Whitty, based on an original concept by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, musical direction by David Lamoureux, director of puppetry is Christian Anderson and directed by 3-D Theatricals Executive Producer and Artistic Director T.J. Dawson and C.J. Porter. AVENUE Q will begin performances on Friday, July 13, with a press opening on Saturday, July 14 and perform through Sunday, July 29 at the historic Plummer Auditorium, 201 E. Chapman Ave. in Fullerton. AVENUE Q will then travel across town to perform at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, 1935 Manhattan Beach Blvd. for three performances only August 3-5. (more...)
