Today in 2007, the second Broadway revival of Grease opened at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, where it ran for 554 performances. Grease is a 1971 musical by Jim Jacobs and WarRen Casey. The musical is named for the 1950s United States working-class youth subculture known as the greasers. The musical, set in 1959 at fictional Rydell High School (loosely based on William Howard Taft School), follows ten working-class teenagers as they navigate the complexities of love, cars, and drive-ins. BROADWAY BARES XXII: HAPPY ENDINGS, a fairytale evening of modern-day burlesque featuring 227 of New York's sexiest dancers, made history for the third year in a row on June 17, by raising a record-breaking $1,254,176 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. One of the evening's performances was the story of "The Ugly Duckling" called "Ugly Duckling (It Gets Better)" set to Lady Gaga's "Born This Way", which took on bullying as Brandon Rubendall helped Adar Wellington embrace both her inner and outer beauty in a moving piece choreographed by Nick Kenkel. BWW Flashback: END OF THE RAINBOW Closes on Broadway Today, Aug 19

The Broadway production of End of the Rainbow, written by Peter Quilter and directed by Tony Award winner Terry Johnson, will play its final performance today, Sunday, August 19, 2012. The production, which began performances on Monday, March 19 of this year and opened on Monday, April 2, will have played a total of 176 performances at Broadway's Belasco Theatre. Jen Noble (Ghost) and Delius Doherty (Book of Mormon) have been added to the line-up of understudies performing in "Half Hour: A Last Minute Concert." Tonight, August 19th at 7pm, BroadwayUnderstudies.com has invited some of Broadway's most talented understudies to the stage of the Laurie Beechman Theatre to share their rare talent—the ability to perform at a second's notice. Mike Stoller Appears at 35th Anniversary Tribute to Elvis Presley at Hollywood's Egyptian Theatre, 8/19

Mike Stoller, of the legendary Grammy Award-winning songwriting team of Leiber & Stoller, will appear for a book signing of "Hound Dog: The Leiber and Stoller Autobiography" at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Question and Answer Session and screening of the 1957 Warner Bros. classic film (originally made by MGM), "Jailhouse Rock" starring Elvis Presley at 2:00 p.m. today, August 19, 2012 at the American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre, 6712 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, Calif.
