As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Judy Craymer's new musical, VIVA FOREVER, a modern fable of camaraderie, love and loyalty based on the songs of the Spice Girls, will open in the West End before the end of the year. SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, Broadway's record breaking new show, celebrates its one-year anniversary on Broadway today, Thursday, June 14, 2012. The fastest show in Broadway history to reach one million audience members, in the past year SPIDER-MAN also shattered the record for the highest single-week gross of any show in Broadway history for the week ending Sunday, January 1, 2012; shattered the Broadway single-week attendance record that same week, playing to 17,375 audience members (100.02% capacity of The Foxwoods Theatre); set the weekly box office record of $2,941,790.20; and shattered the annual box office record of the Foxwoods Theatre by almost $35 million. Producers Julian Schlossberg and Letty Aronson have just announced that five time Tony Award® winner Susan Stroman will direct and choreograph the world premiere production of BULLETS OVER BROADWAY, the new musical adaptation of Woody Allen's and Douglas McGrath's screenplay of the 1994 crime-comedy film when it arrives home on Broadway in the 2013 - 2014 season. CONFIRMED: Al Pacino-Led GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS Revival to Play Schoenfeld Theatre; Opening Set for Nov. 11

As BroadwayWorld reported earlier this week, David Mamet's 1984 play Glengarry Glen Ross is heading back to Broadway, this time starring Al Pacino as leading man, 'Shelly "The Machine" Levene.' Pacino previously played 'Richard Roma' the the 1992 film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Daniel Sullivan is attached to direct the project.
The New York Times has confirmed that the show will begin previews on October 16 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater. Opening night is set for November 11. (more...)

Mike Tyson, Spike Lee to Make 'Special Announcement' Monday

Stage Version of Whitney Houston's SPARKLE in the Works

SPARKLE will be released in theaters on August 17th by Sony Pictures, starring Jordin Sparks, Derek Luke, Mike Epps, Carmen Ejogo, Tika Sumpter, Omari Hardwick, Cee-Lo Green, and the now late Whitney Houston. Today in 2011, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark opened at the Foxwoods Theatre, where it is still running. Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark is a rock musical with music and lyrics by U2's Bono and The Edge and a book by Julie Taymor, Glen Berger, and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. The musical is based on the Spider-Man comics created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, published by Marvel Comics, as well as the 2002 film about the character and the Greek myth of Arachne. lt tells the story of the origin of the character, his romance with Mary Jane and his battles with the evil Green Goblin. Producers Bob Boyett and The National Theatre of Great Britain launch the first U.S. tour of the 2011 Tony® Award-winning Best Play and international sensation, War Horse, tomorrow, Thursday, June 14 at Los Angeles's Ahmanson Theatre. The national tour will bring the hit play to 30 U.S. cities during the 2012-2013 season. The winner of five 2011 Tony® Awards, War Horse has been seen by over 2 million people worldwide and is currently playing at New York's Lincoln Center Theater, in London's West End, and at Toronto's Princess of Wales Theatre. West End's GHOST to Close October 6
