The Public Theater's production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's INTO THE WOODS, part of The Public's 50th Anniversary season at the Delacorte opened last week, August 9th to mixed reveiews from critics. Now according to the New York Times, the show is still 'pursuing a possible Broadway transfer.' 4) Lauren Molina and Jason Tam Set to Lead Keen Company's MARRY ME A LITTLE Off-Broadway; Opening 10/2

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company (Jonathan Silverstein, Artistic Director/Damon Chua, Executive Director) today announced that Lauren Molina and Jason Tam will star in Marry Me A Little, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, conceived by Craig Lucas and Norman Rene, directed by Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein. 7) Funeral Held Today, August 14, for Marvin Hamlisch

As BroadwayWorld reported earlier last week, composer Marvin Hamlisch passed away last Monday evening at 68 years old, following a brief illness. 17) Joan Roberts, Star of OKLAHOMA!, Passes Away at 95

Joan Roberts, the stage and film actress who created the role of "Laurey" in the original 1943 production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's OKLAHOMA!, died on Monday August 13, in Stamford, Connecticut. She was 95, and died of congestive heart failure, according to her son, John Donlon. (more...)
