Hollywood Film Awards to Honor LES MIS' Samantha Barks

Samantha Barks, star of the upcoming film LES MISERABLES, is one of six young actors who will be honored with the 'Hollywood Spotlight Award' at this year's Hollywood Film Awards gala ceremony to be held October 22 at the Beverly Hilton. Barks is set to play Eponine in the film version of Les Miserables - the role she played at the 25th anniversary concert. (more...)

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) presents Pippin, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Roger O. Hirson, directed by A.R.T. Artistic Director Diane Paulus, with circus choreography by Gypsy Snider of the Montreal-based circus company Les 7 doigts de la main (also known as 7 Fingers) and choreography by Chet Walker in the style of Bob Fosse. Set design is by Tony Award-winning designer Scott Pask, costume design by Dominique Lemieux, lighting design by Tony Award-winning designer Kenneth Posner, and sound design by Tony winner and A.R.T. Resident Sound Designer Clive Goodwin. Orchestration is by Tony Award-winner Larry Hochman, Music Supervision by Nadia Di Giallonardo, and the Music Director is Charlie Alterman. (more...)

Official: GOOD NEWS, HELLO, DOLLY! & THE MOST HAPPY FELLA to Play Goodspeed in 2013 for 50th Anniversary

Two time Tony Award-winning Goodspeed Musicals, under the leadership of Executive Director Michael P. Price, is delighted to announce its Golden Anniversary season at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Conn. The 50th season includes three very special musicals that are sure to please theatregoers: the charming collegiate comedy Good News will run from April 12 – June 22; Jerry Herman's beloved Hello, Dolly! will run from June 28 – September 8; and Frank Loesser's enchanting Broadway hit The Most Happy Fella will run from September 20 – December 1, 2013.
"To the cheers of many, on June 18, 1963 the footlights were once again lit on the Goodspeed Opera House stage. And now, fifty years later, we are in awe that so much has happened in and because of this gem of a building. It truly was an impossible dream that, from this tiny stage, the world of American musical theatre would be changed forever. The York Theatre Company has announced the first Off-Broadway revival of the of Closer Than Ever, with lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr. and music by David Shire, will end its extended run with its 150th performance on Sunday evening, November 4, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at The York Theatre at Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue) where performances began June 5, 2012.
