Leonarda Bosch, Natasha R. Brown & More to Star in PROOF at Gene Frankel Theatre

PROOF-20010101

Proof, the 2001 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play by American playwright David Auburn will be presented for 8 performances only at the Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street - between Lafayette & Bowery). Produced by an ensemble of independent New York actors and artists, performances will begin on Thursday, February 21st and continue through Sunday, March 3rd.

On the eve of her twenty-fifth birthday, Catherine, a troubled young woman, has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father, a famous mathematician. Now, following his death, she must deal with her own volatile emotions; the arrival of her estranged sister, Claire; and the attentions of Hal, a former student of her father's who hopes to find valuable work in the 103 notebooks that her father left behind. Over the long weekend that follows, a burgeoning romance and the discovery of a mysterious notebook draw Catherine into the most difficult problem of all: How much of her father's madness - or genius - will she inherit?

Directed by S. Quincy Beard, the cast includes Leonarda Bosch (Catherine), Natasha R. Brown (Claire), Andrew J. Langton (Robert) and Reid Prebenda (Hal).

The creative team for Proof is comprised of: George W. Hoffman and Greg Kozatek (sets), Nicholas Houfek (lights) and John Emmet O'Brien (sound). Andrea Hannaway is Production Stage Manager.

Originally produced by the Manhattan Theater Club, Proof premiered Off-Broadway in May 2000 and opened on Broadway at The Walter Kerr Theatre in October 2000. The original Broadway cast included Mary Louise Parker (who won the Tony Award for her portrayal of Catherine), Larry Bryggman, Ben Shenkman and JohAnna Day. The show closed in January 2003 after playing a total of 917 performances. A 2005 film adaptation starred Gwyneth Paltrow, Anthony Hopkins, Hope Davis and Jake Gyllenhaal.

"We all know performances that touch us at our core," says actress and Co-Producer Leonarda Bosch. "They remind us of the things we care about, the dreams we have, the love in our hearts. This is the goal of our production."

Proof will play the following performance schedule: Thursday, Friday & Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 2pm. Tickets are $35 for general admission and $20 for students and may be purchased online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/328694.
