NEWSICAL THE MUSICAL: FULL SPIN AHEAD Turns Two 12/13

NEWSical the Musical: Full Spin Ahead, named Best New Musical at the 2011 Off Broadway Alliance Awards, will celebrate its one year anniversary on Tuesday, December 13, 2011. A two-time nominee at the 2011 Drama Desk Awards, NEWSical plays at Theatre Row on West 42nd Street.

The announcement was made today by Tom D’Angora, producer of NEWSical the Musical: Full Spin Ahead.

No one in the news is safe! NEWSical is a laugh-filled, high octane musical revue of all the most talked-about headlines of the day. Satirical spoofs of the most up-to-the-minute newsmakers and celebrities are added on a regular basis making NEWSical an ever-evolving mockery of all the news that’s fit to print!

From Occupy Wall Street to the upcoming Presidential Election and the fight for marriage equality to Kim Kardashian, Ashton and Demi, all the biggest stories of the past year in pop culture and politics are given composer-lyricist Rick Crom’s signature skewering in a hilarious 90-minute revue.

NEWSical the Musical: Full Spin Ahead features Drama Desk nominee and Sirius Radio host Christine Pedi (Forbidden Broadway, Talk Radio), Christina Bianco (Drama Desk nominee, Forbidden Broadway), Michael West (Forbidden Broadway, When Pigs Fly), John Walton West (national tours of The Drowsy Chaperone and The Producers), Amy Griffin (How the Grinch Stole Christmas) and Tommy Walker (Evil Dead).

Crom has received three Drama Desk nominations for his work on NEWSical. He appeared on Broadway in Urinetown, Footloose and The Goodbye Girl. NEWSical is directed by Mark Waldrop (When Pigs Fly, My Deah, Inventing Avi, Papermill Playhouse’s Gypsy). Rounding out the creative team are Ed Goldschneider (music director), Jason Courson (set designer), Josh Starr (lighting designer) and Scott Delacruz (stage manager).
