Toronto indie-theatre company Nobody's Business Theatre brings its hit solo show Redheaded Stepchild to Theatre ROW for a special one-night-only performance as part of the United Solo festival. This award-winning production has played to sold-out audiences throughout Canada.

Playwright and performer Johnnie Walker charms audiences with the hilarious and heartbreaking story of Nicholas: a 12-year-old with red hair whose dad just remarried, making him a redheaded stepchild. Literally. And tomorrow at lunch, the biggest boy in grade six plans to beat him up. Walker plays Nicholas; his ex?Jehovah's witness golf-pro stepmom, Mary-Anne; and his fabulous alter ego and imaginary friend, Rufus Vermilion. Redheaded Stepchild is queer coming-of-age story that tackles adolescent bullying head-on with humour, heart and honesty.

The tour-de-force production, directed by Walker's long?time collaborator Morgan Norwich, received many accolades on its cross-Canada Fringe Festival tour, including Best of Fest at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival. At its Toronto premiere at the 2010 SummerWorks Festival, Walker was awarded the Steam Whistle Emerging Artist Award for his work on the production.

A Toronto indie theatre institution, United Solo marks Nobody's Business Theatre's first U.S. performance. Founded in 2005 by Johnnie Walker and Morgan Norwich, Nobody’s Business Theatre is a critically acclaimed Toronto?based company of young artists dedicated to the creation and production of new work that is exciting, accessible to all communities, and completely hilarious.
