Orfeh Hosts Feb. 23 Monday Nights, New Voices, Composer Deborah Abramson Guests

The fifth year of the acclaimed series, ‘Monday Nights, New Voices,' will continue on February 23rd, with Broadway star, Orfeh, who was recently Tony Nominated as Paulette in the Broadway Musical, Legally Blonde.

The monthly series, which celebrates and honors up and coming talent, will boost the talents of Ashley Mortensen, Andy Planck, Tess Primack, Tony Ramos and Jessica Vosk.

Each of the talented performers will sing selections from the evening's special guest composer, Deborah Abramson who will also be on hand to accompany the performers and tell stories associated with each of the presented songs at the evenings concert.

The concert is produced by Composer Scott Alan. Barbara Anselmi serves as the series Musical Director.

The Duplex Cabaret Theatre is located in Manhattan at 61 Christopher Street. There is a $12 music charge and a two-drink minimum; for reservations call (212) 255-5438.

Orfeh - Orfeh is a 2007 Tony Award nominee for her performance as Paulette in Legally Blonde. She has also appeared on Broadway in Saturday Night Fever, Fascinating Rhythm and Footloose and Off-Broadway in Love, Janis. Her television credits include "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," "Sex & the City" and "Chappelle's Show." Orfeh was also founder and lead singer of the group Or-N-More on EMI Records. Deborah Abramson - Deborah has written several songs with Tony winner William Finn, who recently presented their collaborative efforts at Merkin Hall. Barrington Stage Company presented a revue of Deborah's material, Travels With My Discontent, in 2006. She has also composed music for Marco Polo with Peter Mills, which was showcased at the ASCAP workshop and earned her a Dramatists Guild Fellowship. In addition, she has received The Max Dreyfuss Award through ASCAP and graduated from the Musical Theatre Writing Program at NYU. Current projects include The History Of War, with lyrics by Amanda Yesnowitz and book by Chip Zien. Deborah's music has been featured in several cabaret evenings by singers such as Michael Winther, Stephanie Block, and Lea Michele. Stephanie Block's forthcoming solo album will include a song by Abramson and Yesnowitz. As musical director and associate musical director, Deborah has worked on the Broadway productions of Spring Awakening and James Joyce's The Dead, the off-Broadway productions of The Glorious Ones, Bernarda Alba (Michael John LaChiusa), Dessa Rose, and My Life With Albertine, and many developmental workshops, including most recently Sheik and Sater's Nero at New York Stage And Film. www.deborahabramson.com
