Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW presents THE APPLE CART, by George Bernard Shaw – his outrageous comedy of a king and the hoops he has to jump through to stay on the throne – on Monday, June 18 at 7pm at The Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South) in Manhattan. Now in its seventh sold-out year, Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW made history in December 2009 as the first company ever to present every play (including full-length works, one-acts and sketches) written by George Bernard Shaw.
THE APPLE CART is Shaw's 1929 farcical comedy of Royals set in the future. King Magnus (Patrick Page) must juggle his rebellious Cabinet (including Jim Brochu, Marianne Tatum, Bradford Cover), his tempestuous mistress (Alison Fraser), his ambitious queen, and even an American ambassador determined to colonize England (Nick Wyman) all on one wild day.
The cast features Nora Chester, A.J. Shively, Scott Schafer, Jim Brochu, Patrick Page, John Plumpis, James Prendergast, Gibson Frazier, Jack Koenig, Marianne Tatum, Robin Leslie Brown, Alison Cimmet, Ron McClary and Alison Fraser.
David Staller produces and directs all of the PROJECT SHAW readings. His adaption of Shaw's MAN AND SUPERMAN is currently on view at The Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd St), which he is directing as a co-production between his Gingold Theatrical Group and The Irish Repertory Theatre.
