Liz Tuccillo, along with three other former writers of "Sex and the City," have collaborated on the theatrical series CEDAR CITY FALLS: A MIDWEST CONFLICT," to launch at New York's Cell Theater next month. The project includes the participation of RENT alums Daphne Rubin-Vega and Jesse L. Martin, amongst others.
Tuccillo, who also co-authored the book "He's Just Not That Into You," has teamed with Elisa Zuritsky, Julie Rottenberg and Cindy Chupack to create the comedy, a small-town saga that will play out in eight weekly episodes, with two performances on Tuesday nights beginning Oct. 6.
Appearing in CEDAR CITY is Peter Frechette, Grant Shaud and Talia Balsam, amongst over 20 others. Rotating lineup of narrators is expected to include Jesse L. Martin (set to narrate the first week's episode), Daphne Rubin-Vega and John Slattery. The piece is directed by John Ruocco.
Proceeds from each week's performance of CEDAR CITY will benefit a different charity organization, including Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders and the Center for Constitutional Rights.
CEDAR CITY kicks off when a mentally unstable man (Shaud) insults a fellow member of the town choir who refuses to forgive him; the petty conflict soon explodes into a townwide war.
CEDAR CITY begins Oct. 6 at the Cell Theatre, where the show will play for a few weeks before finishing out its run at Galapagos in Brooklyn. For more information, visit www.thecelltheatre.org/
