Musicals Tonight has just announced its spring 2013 season at The Lion Theatre, featuring Strike Up the Band!, Same Time, Next Year - The Musical and Leave It to Jane. Scroll below for more details.

Runs: March 11-24, 2013

In this 1927 musical farce, the owner of the Fletcher American Cheese Co. has convinced the U.S. government to declare war on Switzerland, who has protested our tariff on imported cheese. The 1940 film starred Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland and was directed by Busby Berkeley.

Runs: April 2-14, 2013

George and Doris meet in Napa Valley in 1951 and have a one night "affair". Although they return to and continue to love their respective spouses, they feel so strongly about one another that they arrange to meet once a year (at the same time). Over 24 years we see each "evolve" - at different rates and in different ways. The 1975 play starred Ellen Burstyn who won both Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Best Actress.

The story is about a star halfback who forsakes his father's alma mater, Bingham, to play for their rival - Atwater - in order to be near the girl he loves, Jane, who is the daughter of Atwater's President. "A Gay and Tasteful Musical" said The New York Times of August 29, 1917.

Each musical will run for two weeks - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday @ 7:30; and Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday @ 2:00). All performances will be at The Lion Theatre (410 West 42nd Street). Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the box office or from TeleCharge 212-239-6200.
