So I Like Superman... And So I Heard You're Dying Join At UCB Tonight

So_I_Like_Superman_And_So_I_Heard_Youre_Dying_Join_At_UCB_Tonight_20010101

Michael Hartney's one man show So I Like Superman: A One-Nerd Show and Chris Kelly's (The Onion News Network) show Oh My God, I Heard You're Dying are paired together tonight at 8:00 PM at the UCB Theatre NY(307 W. 26th Street, NY, NY 10001). Tickets are $5 and are available at the door.

So I Like Superman: In 1938, at the height of the great depression, the world was introduced to the greatest hero of all time. In 1982, at the height of Mary Hartney's post-partum depression, that character was introduced to the biggest, gayest nerd of all time. In So I Like Superman, writer/performer/comic book nerd Michael Hartney tells the secret origin of his lifelong obsession with the Man of Steel, oddly mirroring the plot of Superman: The Movie. You will believe a nerd can believe a man can fly. Written and performed by Michel Hartney and Directed by Chris Kelly(Onion News Network)
Oh My God, I Heard You're Dying: Come watch as seven family members, friends, coworkers and a neighbor of seven weeks accidentally ruin their final goodbyes. Oh, and if Aunt Debra can figure out the Skype, she would like to say something too, featuring Lennon Parham of the CBS show Accidentally on Purpose, and D'Arcy Carden of the Animal Planet show Pet-o-Rama. Written and Directed by Chris Kelly.

Michael Hartney is an actor and writer who can be seen in the film BearCity, Nickelodeon's WACK, webisodes for Lipton Brisk and Skoal, and commercials for Target, Time Warner Cable, CarMax, Burger King, ShopRite, and many more. Theatre credits include Cake and Plays (...but without the cake), Tales of the Lost Formicans, WeikelWorks, and Young Stowaways in Space. He can also be seen at The UCB Theatre in the shows, The Same Sex-Tacular, Oh My God I Heard You're Dying, and every month with the sketch group High Treason.
Chris Kelly is currently a staff writer and director for The Onion News Network, which won the 2009 Peabody Award, and earlier this year was a writer on a Comedy Central pilot created by Matt Besser. He is also a writer for the UCB Sketch Group Stone Cold Fox. He also maintains a blog www.chriskelly.tumblr.com.

UCB Theatre is home to the best long-form improv and sketch in NYC. Founded by Matt Besser, Ian Roberts, Matt Walsh and Amy Poehler in 1996, the theater and training center are the breeding grounds for NYC's hottest emerging talents. Named "Hot Farm Team" by Rolling Stone magazine and "Best Comedy Club" by AOL, The UCB Theatre is widely recognized as home to today's funniest actors and writers. Among our esteemed alumni include several performers and writers for Saturday Night Live, The Office, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Ellen Degeneres Show, 30 Rock, Best Week Ever, Old School, Blades of Glory, Semi-Pro and countless other films, commercials and television shows. Performers who have gained success continue to lend their talents to the theatre and training center.

The theatre is located in the heart of Chelsea at 307 W. 26th Street, New York, NY 10001. Their website is http://newyork.ucbtheatre.com.
