As of the fall 2011 Theatre East added to its Third Week of the Month Mixers by offering the NEIGHBORHOOD READING SERIES to the mix. Theatre East is committed to discovering new vivid theatrical works through their main stage productions and through readings and workshops. The Neighborhood Reading Series helps the organization do just that while fostering relationships with playwrights and their work.
Theatre East is also committed to celebrating all forms of theatre. The Neighborhood Reading Series allows them to do this even further without the confines of producing. In addition, it provides a platform for discussion and community by celebrating plays you may have heard of along with some that might be a bit more obscure. Since the readings are free and open to the public, it also aids us in our dedication to the ideal that theatre is not a luxury but should be accessible to everyone, no matter one's economic or social status.
