TRU to Host 2013 COMBINED AUDITION EVENT, 4/6-7

TRU-presents-the-2013-COMBINED-AUDITION-EVENT-46-and-47-20010101

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces that submissions are open for the TRU 2013 Combined Audition Event, produced by Jaye Maynard and Michelle Slonim, and presented in association with Actors Access, Actors Connection, Modernage/HeadshotRepros.com, People's Improv Theater (The PIT), The Players Theatre, Ripley Grier Studios, Studio 7 Photography, TheaterMania, Wag That Reel and Weist-Barron Studios. Auditions will take place Saturday and Sunday, April 6-7, 2013 from 10am-6pm at People's Improv Theater (The PIT), 123 East 24th Street, NYC. Early bird registration is $50 ($40 for AEA and TRU members) before March 5. From March 6 to registration closing on March 25, the fee is $75 ($65 for AEA and TRU members). Registration is required, and application information can be found at www.truonline.org/2013TRUAudition2.htm.

The TRU 2013 Combined Audition Event gives actors the opportunity to audition for more than 40 producers, theater companies, casting directors, agents, writers and directors over two days. Each actor prepares a 2 minute time slot with two contrasting monologues for non-singing auditions on Sunday April 7th, or monologue and 16 bars of music on the Saturday April 6th musical audition day. This unique Combined Audition is open to Equity and non-union actors; the venue is handicap-accessible, and actors with disabilities are encouraged to apply and inspire attendees with the possibility of greater diversity in casting. Audition requirements and application are posted on TRU's website at www.truonline.org/2013TRUAudition2.htm.

"The event always attracts a wide range of theater companies and casting professionals with incredibly diverse casting needs. But even more important, we strive to make this a positive, smooth-running experience for everyone," says TRU president Bob Ost. Event producer Jaye Maynard adds, "Our motto is: treat the actors like gold!" And agent Albert Bramante of Emerging Talent LLC agrees that the event is effective: "I attended [the TRU audition] last March and am now freelancing with 15 actors, three of whom I already booked work for. I am so impressed with the caliber of the actors, I cannot wait to meet more at this year's showcase!"

Some of the companies, both established and emerging, that attended in years past have included: 13th Street Repertory, Acclaim Theatrical, Abingdon Theatre, The Actors Project, American Bard Theater Company, The Artists Playground Theatre (TAPT), African Arts Theatrical Productions/Kef Theatrical Productions, Algonquin Theatre Company, Broadway producer group The Broadway Consortium, Fourth Wall Productions, Going to Tahiti Productions, Golden Fleece Ltd., Howling Moon Cab Co., The Killing Kompany Dinner Theatre, Kraine Theatre, Manhattan Theatresource/Estrogenius Festival, Mermaid Productions, Mondays Dark Theatre Co., Musically Human Theater Co., NY Artists Unlimited, Oberon Theatre Ensemble, PCC Productions/West Village Musical Theatre Festival, NY Theatre Barn, Planet Connections Festivity, Primary Stages, Pulse Ensemble Theatre, Resonance Ensemble, Riant Theatre/Strawberry Festival, Scripts Up!, Terra Incognita Theatre, Theater To Go, Triangle Theatre Company, White Plains Performing Arts Center, Women of Color Productions, The Workshop Theatre as well as the TRU Voices Play Reading Series. Previous years' industry included casting directors Lisa Donadio of Alaine Alldaffer Casting, Daryl Eisenberg, Barry Moss (Moss Kale Anastasi Casting), Carol Nadell of Selective Casting, Helene Galek, Bob Giovanelli, Katherine Hinchey from Hinchey Casting, Robin Carus and Jennifer Peralta-Ajemian of J&R Creative; talent manager Bob Luke, Jaye & Charlie Wright of Wright Talent Management; and agents Albert Bramante and LaQuinta Prince of Emerging Talent, Shirley Faison of Carson-Adler, Ginger Dicce, Justin Florin of Judy Boals Agency, Sue Winik of Sheplin Winik Artists and Ann Wright; plus independent producers, writers and directors.

In addition, there is a free INFORMATION/MEET THE COACHES session on Saturday, March 9th from 2pm to 5pm to prepare actors for the TRU Audition with a seminar led by TRU Event Producer Jaye Maynard and Meet the Coaches Event Coordinators Clyde Baldo and Natalie Wilson. Actors will meet a dozen audition and vocal coaches, followed by a wine & cheese reception, plus Q&A about the event. Headshot photographer Junenoire Mitchell of Studio 7 Photography will also be there to advise actors about their headshots. Event is FREE with registration for the TRU 2013 Audition Event, $15 for non-registrants (applicable towards the audition fee). Details may be found at www.truonline.org/CoachesAE13.htm.
