The New 42nd Street and The New Victory Theater are organizing teams of New Victory Teaching Artists to lead New Victory Family Workshops and art-making activities at evacuation centers with large family populations after Hurricane Sandy. If you know of locations that would benefit from this special kind of assistance, please post the information on New Victory's Facebook wall.
"Black Violin opens this Friday and I cannot think of a better show for this difficult time. These amazing musicians lift spirits and bring audiences together in a powerful way," wrote Cora Cahan, president of The New 42nd Street, in an email. "Ring A Ding Ding performances are also in full swing at the New 42nd Street Studios. We hope that you’ll join us this weekend, and when you visit the theater, we encourage you to bring these donation items with you: blankets, flashlights and cleaning supplies. We will deliver them on your behalf to local aid organizations."
New Victory will also be holding card-making activities in the lower lobby, where audience members can create artful messages for hurricane victims, which the theater will deliver to those in need of encouragement.
If you missed a New Vic performance due to the storm, call 646.223.3010 when you’re able and the theater will exchange your tickets for a future performance.
