The Acting Company will present a staged reading of George S. Kaufman and Ring Lardner's 1929 hit musical June Moon filled with fun, frolic and hit songs such as Button Up Your Overcoat.  Tony-winner John Rando (Urinetown, The Dinner Party, The Wedding Singer) will direct Kaufman's great grandson, James Patrick Cronin (Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival and National Comedy Theatre) and a cast of Broadway regulars including six Acting Company Alums at the Mainstage Theater at Playwrights Horizons at 7pm, Monday, January 24.  Tickets for the benefit evening are $35 and $60 and include a reception with the cast following the performance.
 
In addition to James Patrick Cronin who will be appearing in his first New York presentation of one of his great grandfather's plays, the cast includes Santino Fontana (Importance of Being Earnest, Brighton Beach Memoirs), Richard Topol (Merchant of Venice), Andrew Weems (The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, Inherit the Wind), Mia Barron (Coast of Utopia, Grey's Anatomy), Matthew Greer (The Real Thing, Cabaret), Michael Cullen (The Heart is a Lonely Hunter), Aya Cash (Offices), Megan Bartle, Lisa McCormick, Robert Michael McClure and Julie McKay.
 
John Rando is a former Staff Repertory Director of The Acting Company and directed its 2000-01Off-Broadway production and national tour of Trevor Nunn's musical adaptation of The Comedy of Errors. The Acting Company was founded in 1972 by legendary producer and actor John Houseman and current Producing Artistic Director Margot Harley with Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone and others in the first graduating class of Juilliard's Drama Division.  Since then it has performed 135 productions to audiences in 48 states and 10 foreign countries.  In addition to Kline and LuPone, its alumni include Rainn Wilson, Frances Conroy, Jeffrey Wright, Harriet Harris, Jesse L. Martin, David Ogden Stiers and Keith DavidThe Acting Company has been honored with a TONY for Excellence in Theater and is currently presenting new productions of Romeo and Juliet and The Comedy of Errors on its 39th national tour through April when it plays New York City as part of Shakespeare@Pace, which is also presenting productions from London's Globe Theater and Theater for a New Audience.
