This Wonderful Life will be brought to the stage of the Baruch Performing Arts Center (BPAC) on Monday, December 14 at 7 pm with Mark Setlock (Fully Committed) taking on all the roles of the beloved classic film It's a Wonderful Life. Setlock's self-professed love of the movie led him to collaborate with writer Steve Murray on a 90-minute adaption of pure fun. Setlock's bravura performance is a delightful way to begin the holidays while benefitting The Acting Company's education programs for disadvantaged students.
Founded by John Houseman and Margot Harley with Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, David Schramm and David Ogden Stiers in 1972, The Acting Company continues its mission of bringing classic theater and arts education to under-served, rural and university communities across America in addition to its New York Season.
Recipient of a special TONY for excellence in theater, The Acting Company is currently presenting The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, coproduced with New York Theatre Workshop, which will be followed by Romeo and Juliet in late February at BPAC in its second collaboration with the Guthrie Theater. New York is one of thirty communities on The Acting Company's 37th national tour, which begins a month-long run at the Guthrie in January.
This Wonderful Life, the first of five staged Acting Company readings this season, is perfect holiday fare, combining an uplifting story with a gentle dose of good humor to create a delightfully winning package.
