Theater for the New City (Crystal Field, Executive Director) will present Lesser America's World Premiere of Nick Jones' (Jollyship the Whiz-bang with Ars Nova/The Public; The Coward with Lincoln Center) Trevor, February 28-March 17 at Theater for the New City (155 1st Avenue between 9th and 10th Street). The production will be directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel (Hand to God with EST; My Base and Scurvy Heart with Studio 42) and will feature Steven Boyer* (Hand to God; Jollyship the Whiz-Bang), Geneva Carr* (Hand to God; Boise), Nathaniel Kent (The Three Seagulls at HERE; Doctor Faustus at The Brick), Andy Nogasky*, Shawn Randall* (Big Tex at EST; Blue Man Group), Amy Staats* (One Thing I Like To Say Is with Clubbed Thumb) and Colleen Werthmann* (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson; The Mistakes Madeline Made). The creative team will include Set Design by Andrew Boyce, Props Design by Sarah Dowling, Costume Design by Elizabeth Groth, Lighting Design by Mike Inwood, and Fight Direction by Ro Bert Westley. *Actor appears courtesy of the Actors' Equity Association.

Trevor is a show-biz chimp whose career is on the rocks, and who, despite biting a woman in the supermarket parking lot last week, still has dreams of a TV comeback with Morgan Fairchild. He lives alone with Sandra, a middle-aged widow. Sandra knows it was a fluke, that Trevor would never do anything to hurt anybody, especially not paranoid next-door neighbor Ashley and her precious newborn baby. Trevor is a new play about fame, success, and the lies we tell ourselves in order to keep people from taking away our erratic, 200-pound chimpanzee.

TREVOR, presented by Lesser America in residence at Theater for the New City (155 1st Avenue between 9th and 10th Street) will play a three-week engagement February 28-March 17; Thursday through Sunday at 8pm. Nick Jones (Playwright) Produced shows include: The Coward (Lincoln Center/LCT3; 4 Lortel Nominations) Jollyship the Whiz-Bang (Ars Nova, The Public), The Wundelsteipen (the Flea) The Sporting Life (Studio 42), and The Nosemaker's Apprentice (with Rachel Shukert). His puppet horror musical Homunculus is in development with Center Theater Group (music by Dave Malloy, directed by Sam Gold) and Grizzly Adams, a rock musical performed by bears, with the Huntington (music by Corn Mo, directed by Peter DuBois). He also holds commissions from The Old Globe, Manhattan Theater Club, and Lincoln Center. The Coward is being developed into a film with Big Beach Films/American Work. Moritz von Stuelpnagel (Director) is the Artistic Director of Studio 42, New York's producer of "unproducible" plays. Recently, he directed Robert Askins' Hand to God at Ensemble Studio Theatre, which was named one of the best productions of the year by New York Magazine, Time Out New York, and the Huffington Post, and also starred OBIE-winner Steve Boyer. Other recent New York credits include Daniel Reitz's Turnabout at EST, Mel & El: Show & Tell at Ars Nova, Gary Sunshine's Best Sex Ever at Rising Phoenix Rep, Michael Mitnick's Spacebar: A Broadway Play by Kyle Sugarman and Adam Szymkowicz's My Base and Scurvy Heart both at Studio 42. Regionally, his work has been seen at the Alliance, Williamstown, the Kennedy Center, Millbrook Playhouse, American Stage Festival, the Red Barn, Allentown Shakespeare, and Boston Playwrights Theatre.
