BARE Opens at New World Stages Today

The original musical Bare, which began previews Off-Broadway at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street) on Monday, November 19, 2012, opens today, Sunday, December 9, 2012.

Tickets to Bare may be purchased via www.Telecharge.com, by calling 212-239-6200 or in person at the New World Stages box office (340 West 50th Street between 8th and 9th Avenue). Ticket prices range from $89.75 to $126.50 (including a $1.50 facility fee). Visit Telecharge.com for a complete preview performance schedule as well as holiday performance schedules. The regular performance schedule will be Monday at 8pm, Wednesday – Saturday at 8pm, Saturday at 2:30pm, and Sunday at 3pm & 7:30pm.

Featuring music by Damon Intrabartolo and book & lyrics by Jon Hartmere, Bare will be directed by Olivier® Award nominee Stafford Arima (Carrie, Altar Boyz) and choreographed by Emmy® Award nominee Travis Wall (“So You Think You Can Dance”). Additional songs are by Hartmere and Lynne Shankel (Altar Boyz, Cry-Baby, Company). Music supervision and arrangements are also by Lynne Shankel.

Tony® Award-winner Donyale Werle (Peter and the Starcatcher, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) is the scenic designer. Additional design team and complete casting will be announced in the coming weeks.

With a pulsating rock score, Bare is the story of a group of teens wrestling with issues of identity, sexuality and religion at a co-ed Catholic boarding school as they attempt to navigate complex road from adolescence to adulthood. Bare unfolds as a gripping and provocative new musical, where answers are sought in church confessionals, late night parties and locked dorm rooms.

BARE had its world premiere at the Hudson Theater in Los Angeles, Calif., where it began performances in October 14, 2000 and ran through February 25, 2001. Following the Los Angeles production, Bare began its run at the American Theatre of Actors (Chernuchin Theatre) on March 25, 2004. It opened April 19, 2004 and played through May 27, 2004. Bare has since had more than 100 productions worldwide.
