Valentines Day Bake Sale To Follow FRESHWATER 2/14

The Men's Auxiliary of Women's Project theater company will hold its Valentine's Day Bake Sale Saturday, February 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm followed by a performance of Virginia Woolf's only play, Freshwater directed by Anne Bogart, at Women's Project, 424 West 55th Street.

"Men know that the way to reach a women's heart is through her stomach. We have found a new way for men with a talent for the palate to participate in the development of Women's Project," said Producing Artistic Director Julie Crosby, who volunteered her own significant other to head the Men's Auxiliary. "The Men's Auxiliary Valentine's Day Bake Sale will put our men's skills to the test. We will also vote to see which guy delivers the tastiest sweets and award prizes to the men with the best goods."

"This is our way to help the talented women on the front lines of the theater," said Bruce Cohen, Colonel of the Women's Project Men's Auxiliary, and also winner of last year's bake-off with his savory "Gender Rolls." "The women of Women's Project are awesome. The Men's Auxiliary salutes them and stands behind them."

All of the baked goods will be on sale to take away, or for only $10, it's all-you-can-eat while you're there. The information number is 212.765.2105.

Women's Project and SITI Company's presentation of Freshwater opened on Virginia Woolf's 127th birthday, Sunday, January 25, at 7:00pm for a run through Sunday, February 15. Freshwater is a theatrical escapade set in a Victorian garden on a summer evening. Woolf, who wrote this play for friends and family, creates a deliberately witty and wacky universe peopled with a tribe of artists, friends and lovers in a playful mood. Written in 1923, revised in 1935, Freshwater has never been produced professionally in the United States until now.
