West Bank Cafe Announces New Performance Lineup

The West Bank Café announces upcoming performances to be presented in The Laurie Beechman Theatre. The West Bank Café is located at 407 West 42nd. St., at Ninth Avenue. For reservations, please call 212.695.6909, between the hours of 12pm and 8pm.

The Laurie Beechman Theatre has a rich tradition of presenting cutting-edge work, which has played a role in shaping American theatre and live performance. Since the 80's, the theatre has staged numerous plays and hosted a myriad of live performance events.  

This summer, the theatre is proud to announce an exciting and eclectic line-up of performers and performances, all of which will take place in the gorgeous eighty seat venue.

Please note there is a $15 food and/or beverage minimum at each performance, with the exception of The After Party. All major credit cards are accepted.

The After Party
Every Friday from 10:30pm to 2am
No cover, no minimum
This weekly open-mic schmoozefest for the theatrically inclined has become the hit of midtown, hosted by iron-lunged Brandon Cutrell and Alysha Umphress, with Ray Fellman at the keys and Jason Courson behind the bar. Come hang and belt out a showtune or two. No cover, no minimum. You never know who might drop by.

You Tube Fridays
Every Friday beginning Aug 8, 9pm to 10:30pm
No cover, 2 drink minimum
This informal new screening night kicks off August 8, featuring an array of fun, campy, theatrical clips from the worlds of Broadway, film and television. Come watch Patti Lupone receive her first Tony for Evita (presented by Faye Dunaway!), or perhaps the opening credits from The Muppet Show are more your speed, or Liza Minnelli and her Pet Shop Boys inspired Losing My Mind or the Spring Awakening music video or Jennifer Holiday belting out - oh, you know ('natch). There's something for everyone in this 90 minute warm up to The After Party. Enter our contest! Suggest a link to a clip and, if we use it, free shots!

Renee Torojan: a little thing called life

Back on stage after 2 years, Renee Toroian sings pop, jazz and country tunes.  Accompanied by husband and Musical Director Gregory Toroian on piano, Ron Tierno on drums and Jim Donica on bass. Special guest appearance by Kyle Steinberger (Renee's son) on Guitar. The show is directed by Helen Baldassare.

The event will feature spoken word performances from writers and actors, presenting their own work as well as excerpts from some of their favorite texts. SAY Something will feature a diverse spectrum of performers from the worlds of theatre, broadcasting and composing. The cast includes Hunter Bell (Broadway's Title of Show), Susan Blackwell (Broadway's Title of Show), Phil Geoffrey Bond (MAC, Bistro & Nightlife Award winner), Paul Cavalconte (WRXP radio), Donna Lynne Champlin (Broadway's Sweeney Todd, Hollywood Arms), Christine Lavin (award winning singer/songwriter), Carl Kissin (Chicago City Limits), Christine Pedi (Forbidden Broadway, Talk Radio) and Kate Shindle (Broadway's Legally Blonde).

Joe Iconis is the proud recipient of a Kleban Award and a Jonathan Larson Award, and is the Composer-in-Residence at Ars Nova. His notorious garage band musical The Black Suits, (book co-written by Robert Maddock, directed by John Simpkins) will have its world premiere this summer at the Public Theater as part of SPF. His family rock musical The Plant That Ate the Dirty Socks, (for TheaterWorksUSA)  opened in July at the Lucille Lortel Theater. Joe is a member of the band The Big Galoots and is the sole songwriter for notorious Skazz Cat Records recording artists The Kissin' Kazoo Sisters. Look for an evening of mayhem featuring Iconis at the piano and a talented group of singing co-horts.
