On Monday, October 4, 2010, Tony Award winning actress and Grey's Anatomy star Sara Ramirez and Emmy award winning television personality and the evening's host Carson Kressley, were joined by a host of Broadway stars for an intimate evening to celebrate Broadway Takes the Runway - an evening of fashion and song. All proceeds from the night will benefit the Al D. Rodriguez Liver Foundation, which honors the close friend of Ramirez and Kressley, who was lost to liver cancer in 2008. Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters hosted the 12th annual BROADWAY BARKS!, a star-studded dog and cat adopt-a-thon benefiting New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies on Saturday, July 10. The event, produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS was sponsored by the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and Pedigree Food for Dogs with additional sponsorship by the New York Times. Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tony & Grammy award-winning creator & composer of hit Broadway musical In The Heights hosted The Hispanic Federation's 20th Anniversary Gala as the organization honored five Latino trailblazers including Miranda's mentor and father Luis A. Miranda, founding president of the Hispanic Federation; Nina Garcia, the New York Times Best-Selling author and judge on hit show Project Runway, Angel Snchez; world-renowned Latin American fashion designer; Mike Fernandez, Vice-President of State Farm Insurance; Willie Colon, internationally acclaimed recording artist and humanitarian. The night of celebration, held at the Waldorf Astoria, included a special performance by Willie Colon. Project Runway star Tim Gunn also made a special appearance, alongside Broadway stars Corbin Bleu and Karen Olivio. BroadwayWorld was there to capture the evening's starry arrivals.
