Now, a cable network insider tells us exclusively that the film will instead be an HBO television production, with a budget in the neighborhood of $15 million dollars. There is no word yet on a timeline for the project, or if the announced starry cast are staying aboard the project.

Liza Minnelli to Perform on NBC's SMASH - Season 2!

The new production of RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S Cinderella will now open on Broadway on Sunday, February 24, 2013, with previews set to begin January 24. Originally scheduled to preview January 21 and open on February 21, the new preview/opening date results from a production schedule that was delayed as a result of Hurricane Sandy. RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S Cinderellawill perform at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway at 53rd St.). The marquee just went up at the Broadway Theatre and you can check it out below! (more...)

Today in 2008, Billy Elliot opened at the Imperial Theatre, where it ran for 1312 performances. Billy Elliot the Musical is a musical based on the 2000 film Billy Elliot. The music is by Elton John, and book and lyrics are by Lee Hall, who wrote the film's screenplay. The plot revolves around motherless Billy, who trades boxing gloves for ballet shoes. The story of his personal struggle and fulfillment are balanced against a counter-story of family and community strife caused by the UK miners' strike in County Durham, in North Eastern England. It won ten Tony Awards and ten Drama Desk Awards, including, in each case, best musical. (more...)

THE LION KING Celebrates 15 Years on Broadway Today, November 13

Disney's landmark musical event, The Lion King, celebrates 15 years on Broadway today, November 13th at the Minskoff Theatre (200 West 45th Street, New York City). Virtually the entire creative team, who collectively won six Tony Awards for their work on the show, will reunite for a one-night only celebratory performance Sunday, November 18th as a benefit for The Actors Fund.
