Lilla Crawford Suffers Minor Injury in ANNIE; Out Until Next Week

A production spokesperson tells us Lilla Crawford "suffered a minor injury to her foot while on stage at the December 12 matinee performance of Annie." She is expected to return to the production next week. Understudy Taylor Richardson will take over the role in her absence. (more...)

STAGE TUBE: THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA Cast Announces Online Sweepstakes for 25th Anniversary Performance!

The longest-running show in Broadway history, Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, directed by Harold Prince and produced by Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Company, Inc., will once again make theater history when it becomes the first Broadway show ever to celebrate its 25th Anniversary on Saturday, January 26, 2013. Producers today announced an online sweepstakes to give PHANTOM "Phans" the chance to be part of the historic night's invitation-only performance. While many of the evening's details are being kept under wraps, the special night will begin with an early 6:30 PM performance at The Majestic Theatre (247 West 44th Street), the musical's home for its entire run. George Wendt Joins Cast of BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S!

Six-time Emmy Award-nominee George Wendt (‘Norm' in "Cheers") has joined the cast of the world premiere of Tony Award winning playwright Richard Greenberg's new play, Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's, in the role of ‘Joe Bell' it was announced today. As previously announced, this new stage adaption of Capote's classic novella, directed by Sean Mathias, will also star Emilia Clarke (HBO's "Game of Thrones") as ‘Holly Golightly' and Cory Michael Smith as ‘Fred' and will begin performances at Broadway's Cort Theatre on Monday, March 4. SMASH's Hilty, McPhee Comment on Golden Globe Nomination

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominations for the 2013 Golden Globes Awards this morning, live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Among the nominations was the hit NBC musical drama SMASH, which was given a nod for Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical. Today in 2009, A Little Night Music opened at the Walter Kerr Theatre, where it ran for 425 performances. A Little Night Music is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler. Inspired by the Ingmar Bergman film Smiles of a Summer Night, it involves the romantic lives of several couples. Since its original 1973 Broadway production, the musical has enjoyed professional productions in the West End, by opera companies, in a 2009 Broadway revival, and elsewhere, and it is a popular choice for regional groups. It was adapted for film in 1977, with Harold Prince directing and Elizabeth Taylor, Len Cariou, Lesley-Anne Down and Diana Rigg starring. (more...)
