Obie Award winner Metropolitan Playhouse returns with the world premiere of Neith Boyce's THE SEA LADY, a 1935 play bound for Broadway that never reached its opening, in limited run from October 6 - 30, 2022, in person at the Playhouse. Alex Roe (Thunder Rock, Poor of New York, Virtual Playhouse) directs.

Synetic Theater, the acclaimed center for American Physical Theater, announced its 2022–2023 season, titled Stranger in a Strange Land. The season features four main stage productions, including the world premiere of the H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds, and the return of the Synetic classic Host and Guest. 

Penfold Theatre Company has announced cast and creatives for A War of the Worlds directed by Marcus McQuirter running June 2–18, 2022 at Ground Floor Theatre. Using the work by H.G. Wells & Orson Welles, and expanding on this historic radio cast, this world premiere by local playwright Jarrett King is the first in a series of new play commissions.

Classical Theatre Company, known for boldly re-envisioning classic drama, is unveiling a world premiere adaptation of THE WAR OF THE WORLDS by H.G. Wells this April. First published in 1898, this science-fiction tale of an alien invasion is far from irrelevant to our modern day. Over the course of 120 years, it has been produced in various mediums and time periods, retaining powerful commentary on the fear of “The Other”.

Half a Sixpence, recorded during its 2016, West Ed Run will be broadcast on Sky Arts this Christmas. The cast features Charlie Stemp as Arthur Kipps and Devon-Elise Johnson as Ann Pornick, alongside three-time Olivier-nominated actor Ian Bartholomew as Chitterlow and three-time Olivier-nominated actress Emma Williams as Helen Walsingham.

A Theater in the Dark's live virtual audio drama A WAR OF THE WORLDS to return for three Halloween weekend performances, October 29-31

Penfold Theatre Company (Penfold) has announced the titles and dates for the 2021-22 Season. Season 14 will look at the reimagining of classic stories, bringing two “Great Plays in Great Places” productions, the inclusion of Central Texas Philharmonic, and a world premiere for the first in a new play commission series.

In October 1938, Orson Wells broadcast a radio adaptation of H.G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds. He converted the story of alien invasion into a series of dramatic news bulletins, which inadvertently inspired mass panic across America. This incident is seen by some as the original source of ‘fake news’. First seen in 2019, physical theatre duo Rhum + Clay’s clever adaptation now lands in the Rose Theatre this week as part of a new tour.

Hernandez is graduating as part of Cal State LA's Class of 2021. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, with an option in design and production, and finished with a 3.9 GPA. The 21-year-old Boyle Heights resident hopes to start a career in themed entertainment, helping create worlds like the ones she loved getting lost in growing up.

Set-in present-day France and the UK, War of the Worlds season three picks up as the war between the survivors and aliens reaches a new turning point and a terrifying phenomenon grips countless people across the globe.

Classical Theatre Company has announced the lineup for its  2021-2022 Mainstage Season. As the only professional theatre company in the State of Texas that solely produces classical drama on a year-round basis, CTC only produces plays that are 100 or more years old.
