The 2012 United Solo Festival presents the world premiere of "The Echoes Off The Walls Underground Are Louder Than Your Footsteps Above Me" at the world's largest solo performance festival at Manhattan's off-Broadway Theatre ROW.

Actor and writer Anthony Nikolchev returns to New York City after a tour de force performance last year earned him the award of Best Actor and an invitation to the coveted ENCORE group at this year's festival.

Based on original text, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Charles Bukowski and inspired by the myth of Orpheus, Nikolchev takes us into the dark and occasionally comic final days of a salesman flailing in a failing economy. Selling what people don't need in a time when people have nothing, the man fights the mundane, above ground and beneath it. And then the unbearable happens. In a man's search for contact with himself and with others, a schizophrenic waltz on the precipice of the recession begins.

Co-directed by the US-based Yuri Kordonsky and Polish-based Matej Matejka, the director of the Studio Matejka Physical Theatre Ensemble in residence at the Grotowski Institute in Wroclaw, Poland, the performance weaves together physical and psychological expressionism.

Anthony Nikolchev has performed original solo performances in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Poland, Armenia, Russia and Germany.

The show will play November 4 and 12, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. Tickets, which are $18, are available at the Theatre ROW Box Office (410 West 42nd Street, New York City) and via Telecharge (www.telecharge.com or 212-239-6200).
