Note: “Forever Plaid” is a revue of the close-harmony ‘guy groups (e.g. The Four Aces, The Four Freshmen) that reached the height of their popularity during the 1950s. Seeking a diverse group of strong singer/actors with a great ear for harmonies and who are comfortable with movement.
FRANKIE: 20s. Male. Second tenor – lyric baritone. The leader and caretaker of the group.
SPARKY: 20s Male. Baritone. The clown, the imp, the scamp. The cut-up of the group.
JINX: 20s. Male. Tenor. The shy one. He is terrified and doesn’t always remember what song is next.
SMUDGE: 20s. Male. Bass. The worrier. He worries about the props, the running order, and assumes the audience won’t like him.

comedy/drama of wits set at the dawn of the Civil War.
MAJOR GENERAL BENJAMIN BUTLER of the Union Army: White male. 40s-50s. Self-assured – maybe arrogant. He does not have the crisp neatness of military men. In fact, he appears to be a little sloppy. A former lawyer and politician. Witty and dry.
LIEUTENANT KELLY of the Union Army: White male. 30s. A young West Point Graduate and career army man. All military.
SHEPARD MALLORY: Black male. 20s-30s. A runaway slave who’s come to Butler’s fort to plead for asylum to the Union Army. Smart, cunning, and funny. Able to match wits with Butler in a political game of chess.
MAJOR CARY of the Confederate Army: White male. 40s-50s. A shrewd Confederate officer and soldier.

NOTE: Seeking a diverse cast of skilled actors with command of dense language and period styles. British dialects will be used for this adaptation of Agatha Christie’s novel.
DR. JAMES SHEPPARD: Male. 40s-60s. Our narrator. The local doctor for King's Abbot. Affable, smart and a good storyteller.
CAROLINE SHEPPARD: Female. 40s-60s. The nosey sister of James. She prizes gossip above all, uses it to her advantage whether it is correct or not.
HERCULE POIROT: Male. 50s-70s. The Belgian detective, in retirement.
RALPH PATON: Male 20s. Young and handsome, Ackroyd's foster son. Wild, with a restless past, Ralph is a bit of a loner and hates his status as the ne'er do well foster child of a wealthy man.
MISS HELEN RUSSELL: Female. 40s-50s. Roger Ackroyd's personal secretary. A stern and tight-lipped woman. She controls Ackroyd's personal and business affairs with a steady hand, while keeping secrets of her own.
ROGER ACKROYD: Male. 50s-60s. The wealthy businessman and Lord of Fernly Hall. Ackroyd is an emotional man and the center of much attention in the town of King's Abbot.
FLORA ACKROYD: Female. 20s-30s. Roger Ackroyd's niece. Young, beautiful and willful. Though she has lived a life of privilege, she and her mother have fallen on hard times. She appears to have a warm and generous nature, though can turn suddenly cold when confronted.
MAJOR HECTOR BLUNT: Male 30s-40s. A big game hunter and friend of Roger Ackroyd's who has come to stay at Fernly. A man who has lived all over the world, he believes he understands human nature better than anyone at Fernly.
URSULA BOURNE: Female. 20s-30s. A young maid at Fernly. Possesses a strong back bone. She tries desperately to keep her opinions to herself, but she knows more about the comings and goings at Fernly than she is willing to admit.
PARKER: Male. 40s-60s. The butler at Fernly Hall. He is proper and seemingly meek at first glance. The job is everything to him, or so it seems. But he often seems to be underfoot when you least expect him.
GERTRUDE ACKROYD: Female. 50s-60s. Roger Ackroyd's eccentric sister-n-law and mother to Flora. Flamboyant and overbearing, she resents her dependence on Roger Ackroyd.
INSPECTOR RAGLAN: Male. 30s-50s. An Inspector from Cranchester. Not the best of the lot, though seemingly well intentioned. But why doesn't he see the obvious?

MAN 1 - Plays the following roles: MO: 70s, a northeast transplant with such a sunny disposition, like he might break out in song at any moment. He’s like Jimmy Buffet in Hawaiian shirts, shorts and seems vaguely stoned / high on life. BRUCE: 70s, a corporate lawyer, decisive, assertive. A sharp dresser. An avid golfer with a 10 handicap. After his wife’s recent passing, he is one of the most eligible widowers in Boca.
MAN 2 - Plays the following roles: MARTY: 70s, former Brooklyn boy of Romanian descent, obsessed with all things New York. A curmudgeon, who hunches like a pretzel. He’s unhappily married to Deann. He wears a Yankees hat. ROBBIE: 60s, one of the sexiest Boca Bros in the development. A podiatrist, who is amiable and easygoing and 100% in love with his wife, Susan. STAN: the ancient treasurer for the Condo board. Maybe he’s 90, maybe he’s 105, it’s impossible to tell. His dog is Tippy.
WOMAN 1 - Plays the following roles: SUSAN: 60s, a nice Catholic girl, Wellesley alum, former kindergarten teacher from an upscale Connecticut suburb. After all of those story times with children, she’s Boca’s version of Mr. Rogers, remarkably expressive in her daily life. She wears blue. DEANN: 60s, former Fortune 500 CEO, everything about her is tight—her personality, her body, her face (she can no longer blink). She has a biting personality.
WOMAN 2 - Plays the following roles: JANET: 70s, the sweetest / ditziest / most innocent Boca Babe (think Betty White). She’s from Queens and on the hunt for a fourth husband in Boca. She is well- preserved by whatever means necessary (god-given or man-made). Stylish, made up, with hair well- coiffed. IRIS: 70s, the sullen wife of the very sunny Mo—after 48 years of marriage, she finds his optimism oppressive. She’s no-bullshit and her dry sense of humor borders on rude.
WOMAN 3 - Plays the following roles: LOUISE: 60s, a yoga instructor who talks and walks like she’s in the studio all the time. She is in desperate need of her own spiritual awakening. She is single, fragile, on edge. She wears yoga clothes. ELAINE: 70s, a feisty, straight-talking Italian divorcee. Very competent (you want a dinner party for 30 in 2 hours? Elaine’s got you covered!). Former smoker, she has three Pomeranians.

ORANGE GIRL: Mid 20s-Mid 30s. The mother of the group. Domestic and maternal, she is wise, soulful, and mature. Slowly asserting her new-found independence. Vocal range top: B5. Vocal range bottom: F3.
GREEN GIRL: 30s-40s. A good-time girl. Blousy, middle-class, and zany. She is a bit frayed at the edges, and hopelessly single. A comedian of sorts. Vocal range top: F5. Vocal range bottom: F3.
RED GIRL: 20s. The baby of the group, she is an exciting blend of youthful contradictions. Quirky, enthusiastic, and naïve. A hopeless romantic who is insecure about her looks. Vocal range top: G. Vocal range bottom: F3.
