WP Theater has just announced the presentation of, by special arrangement with Segal NYC Productions, the Off-Broadway premiere of What We're Up Against, written by Pulitzer Prize nominee Theresa Rebeck (Mauritius, Seminar, NBC's Smash ), directed by Adrienne Campbell-Holt (Dry Land, Empathitrax).

The World Premiere of Straight, a new play written by Scott Elmegreen and Drew Fornarola and directed by Andy Sandberg (Application Pending), will conclude its off-Broadway run this Sunday, May 8 after having played 101 performances at The Acorn Theatre @ Theatre Row (410 W 42nd Street, New York, NY 10036).

Dramatic Publishing Company has acquired the professional, stock and amateur theatrical performance rights to the hit Off-Broadway play STRAIGHT, co-authored by Scott Elmegreen & Drew Fornarola, and directed by Andy Sandberg.

Before every show, Straight star Jenna Gavigan warms up with Disney songs. Last week, she had her fellow cast members Jake Epstein and Thomas E. Sullivan participate in 'The Disney Challenge,' where they were played a clip from a Disney song and had to correctly name the movie it came from. It was a close call - watch the video below to see who won!

Complete casting for the world premiere of STRAIGHT, a new play written by Scott Elmegreen and Drew Fornarola and directed by Andy Sandberg (Application Pending), was announced today. Jenna Gavigan (Broadway's Gypsy, "The Good Wife") will play "Emily," joining previously announced cast members Jake Epstein (Broadway's Beautiful, "Degrassi") as "Ben" and introducing Thomas E. This past year, a brand-new organization called The Kilroys solicited nominations from over 140 theatre professionals (primarily artistic directors and literary managers) for their favorite new plays by female-identified playwrights. In June they published The List -- the top 46 of these plays. Dry Land was one of the most recommended, and many playwrights Colt Coeur has collaborated with in the past were also on the list. In the spirit of continuing to champion gender parity in the theatre, we are hosting a Festival of Readings of plays by women during the run of Dry Land. The plays included are as follows:

Dry Land, written by Ruby Rae Spiegel and directed by Adrienne Campbell-Holt, is a haunting new play about female friendships and abortion-a hilarious, savage, and deeply truthful portrait of the fears, hopes, and friendships of teenage girls. It is as gut-wrenching as it is funny, and while the play's characters may be young, the challenges facing them are ageless.

Everything is Ours, written by Nikole Beckwith, directed by Adrienne Campbell-Holt, and produced by Devon Berkshire. Performances begin Today, August 31st at 8:30pm, at HERE Arts Center, 145 Sixth Avenue, (entrance on Dominick St. 1 Block South of Spring). Opening night is set for Tuesday, September 3rd at 7:00pm. The new musical SHIDA, written and performed by Jeannette Bayardelle -- whose Broadway appearances include leading roles in THE COLOR PURPLE and HAIR - will end its strictly limited engagement today, Wednesday, August 28 with the 8pm performance. SHIDA will have played 12 previews and 36 regular performances.
