Cabaret singer Gloria Bangiola is trying her hand at something new this week – starting a production company. SALTED LEMON’s premiere production, the equity-approved Buzzer by Tracey Scott Wilson, will open at Court Square Theater in Queens on May 10th for a two week engagement.. We spoke about the new show and how cabaret informs her acting.

The Drama League (Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, Executive Director Bevin Ross) announced today the acting company for the 36th annual DirectorFest, the only festival in the United States dedicated to the art of contemporary stage directing. The current national tour, based on the recent Broadway revival at Roundabout Theatre Company's Studio 54 and taking up residence at the Kennedy Center through August 6, does just that - explore and provide a unique take. While there's never been anything particularly cheery about the musical, this version wonderfully embraces its darkness and cold undertones more so than a few others I have seen.

Fortunately for us the current tour at the Paramount is a shiny (or rather intentionally not shiny) example of how good this show can be and why it's still an enduring classic.
