Mad Cow Theatre has announced its 2nd Annual Women’s Voices Play Festival celebrating new plays by Women+ playwrights. After the success of the first festival and subsequent mini-fests featuring 15 new plays by women+ playwrights in 2020, this uplifting project returns for a second round of submissions.

Next week, Mad Cow Theatre will be launching the first annual Women's Voices Festival of new works by emerging and established female-identifying playwrights.

Hoboken is about to open at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Director Fritz Brekelller took time from a busy schedule to talk with us about the show. Fritz Brekeller has worked extensively in the soap opera world, winning multiple Daytime Emmy Awards, most recently this past May, as part of the directing team at CBS's The Young and the Restless. THEATER: He received a 2016 NY Innovative Theater award for Outstanding Direction of Scott C. Sickles' Composure at the Workshop Theater. Among his many other theater credits, includes two past collaborations with playwright Laura Rohrman: My Life as You and The Elevator: Secret Thoughts. He also conceived the musical revue Foxy Ladies Love/Boogie 70's Explosion, which played to sold-out crowds at the legendary Duplex in Greenwich Village. TV: ABC's All My Children. FILM: What Would Bear Do? and the short, Through the Morning. WEB: season 4 of the indie soap, Empire and the pilot for the off-off Broadway spoof, Off-Off Kilter.

Hoboken, written by Laura Rohrman, Directed by Fritz Brekeller, is a high voltage thriller inspired by true events. A devastatingly brutal tale of passionate yet toxic love and unthinkable acts that mirrors a deeply wounded society we live in today. As part of the closing week of the Brenda Starr, Reporter: The Art of Dale Messick exhibit at the Society of Illustrators (128 East 63rd Street New York, NY 10065), The Waverly Writers Collective will present a staged reading of Reporter Girl, a full-length play written by Laura Rohrman (My Life As You at Studio 54/Shetler), Dale Messick's Granddaughter and co-curator of the exhibit.

Rising Sun Performance Company announced last month that it is presenting a new short play reading series 'UNDER REHEARSED' and have partnered with The West Brooklyn as their venue.

For its second edition, Piper McKenzie will present one-night-only performances of three new plays written in this unique collaborative style, with results ranging from inspired chaos to eerie synchronicity - all tied together by the unique voices of 18 hot playwrights, divided into three teams and staged by three intrepid directors.
