Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill begins preview performances on May 26, opens on June 1, and runs through July 1 on the U.S. Bank Main Stage.

Deidrie Henry returns to The Armory to star as Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, Lanie Robertson's riveting portrait of Holiday's life told through an imagined final performance in a small bar in South Philadelphia in 1959. Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill begins preview performances on May 26, opens on June 1, and runs through July 1 on the U.S. Bank Main Stage. Bill Fennelly returns to The Armory to direct after previously directing Gypsy, Black Pearl Sings and, most recently, Little Shop of Horrors. Deidrie Henry, who most recently played Blanche in A Streetcar Named Desire at The Armory, will be joined on stage by Abdul Hamid Royal, the production's music director who also plays the role of Jimmy Powers, along with local musicians Charles Neal (drums) and Andre St. James (bass).

Sherlock Holmes Adventure HOLMES AND WATSON at the Alley Theatre

The Alley Theatre and interim artistic director James Black announce the cast and crew of the new Sherlock Holmes adventure Holmes and Watson byJeffrey Hatcher and directed by Mark Shanahan. This version of the play was written for the Alley by Hatcher. Based on the characters of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle,Holmes and Watson plays the Hubbard Theatre June 22 - July 22, 2018. 2018 Burry Fredrik Design Fellowship Announced

The Burry Fredrik Foundation has announced Frederick Kennedy as the recipient of the 2018 Burry Fredrik Design Fellowship, which was established in 2017 as a collaboration with Yale School of Drama and the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's National Playwrights Conference to help launch the careers of graduates from the School of Drama's Design Departments.

Ford's Theatre Society Announces Cast for THE WIZ

Ford's Theatre Society announced full casting and design team for The Wiz directed by Kent Gash, choreographed by Dell Howlett and withMusic Direction and Orchestration by Darius Smith. The production features Ines Nassara as Dorothy, Hasani Allen as Scarecrow, Kevin McAllister as Tinman,Christopher Michael Richardson as Lion and Jobari Parker-Namdar as The Wiz. The musical plays March 9 to May 12, 2018, at historic Ford's Theatre. The production is recommended for ages eight and older.

Claire DeLiso Named Inaugural Burry Fredrik Design Fellow
